Hemorrhoid Treatments

What is HET Therapy for Hemorrhoids?

The HET System is a non-invasive, non-surgical hemorrhoid treatment.  The system uses a small, disposable clap that applies a combination of constant tissue compression and mild bipolar energy to internal hemorrhoids.  The treatment is
applied to a pain free area inside the rectum to reduce blood flow hemorrhoids.  As a result, discomfort and bleeding are diminished.

Is the Procedure Painful?

HET is associated with less discomfort than other non-surgical hemorrhoid treatments as therapy is applied to an area above the “Dentate Line”, where there are much fewer or absent pain receptors.  An anesthesiologist is available to provide
sedation, if desired.

Why is HET the preferred method to treat hemorrhoids?

HET is fast, painless and does not require an overnight hospital stay. It is performed in our surgery center, quickly and safely.  The therapy only takes minutes to perform.  Patients may return to regular activities shortly after
treatment.

Is A Preparation Required for the Procedure?

There is no preparation is required. However, if you wish to be sedated for the procedure, you will need to fast for 8 hours and arrange for an escort to take you home from our office.

Why should hemorrhoids be treated?

Typically, hemorrhoids are seen as a nuisance rather than a medical problem.  When there is significant bleeding, patients can become anemic.  Most importantly, all bleeding should be evaluated by your physician to exclude other causes.

Why not treat hemorrhoids with ointments or suppositories alone?

This is considered a treatment for symptoms.  In some cases, this is adequate.  When hemorrhoids become enlarged they can prolapse out of the rectum and bleed.  It is at this stage when HET should be considered.
