FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this just a phone call?

No. It is a virtual, face-to-face office visit with your physician. You will see her and she will see you. It will feel like you are sitting in front of her in her office. In many ways, it’s not much different than a Facetime or Skype call.

What types of visits are appropriate for telemedicine?

Routine follow ups, medication adjustments, review of test results (labs, imaging studies, biopsy results), pre-procedure visits (for routine screening colonoscopies).

Will insurance cover a telemedicine office visit?

In most cases, YES. Most private insurance plans now cover telemedicine visits in New York. Please contact our office to verify your eligibility.

Is telemedicine a secure method of communication?

Yes. All of our electronic platforms use HIPAA compliant platforms.

How does this work?

In many ways, it is not much different than walking into my office except that you will be wherever is most convenient for you.

Prior to your visit, you will receive emails/texts from our office confirming your appointment and pre-register for your appointment. We encourage you to pre-register.

15 minutes before the appointment, you will receive and email/text message with a link to enter the virtual waiting room.

Do I need any special equipment?

No. You can use your home computer or mobile device, from wherever is most convenient for you. Just make sure that you are in a quiet place and have a good Wifi or cellular data connection.

Is it really that easy?

YES. This is something that anyone can do by just following a few simple instructions.
